This
stunning set of photographs show the record breaking HU-16
s/no. 0-15282 landing back at Watson Island, Miami after
setting a new world altitude record for twin-engine amphibians
having reached 32,883 feet on 4th July, 1973. These images
were taken by Lt. Col. S. Bruce Olson, USAF Ret and have been
exclusively donated by his son, David Olson. This aircraft was
retired and flown to the USAF Aviation Museum two weeks later,
where it is currently on display today.
